Well, I have in inoffensive solution to this problem we seem to be having.
The problem is that there appear to be two types of folks who use this list
(no, make that 3!)
1. Only want iris talk
2. Want iris talk and socializing
3. Just trying to learn a thing or two
This is a possible solution that should not offend ANYONE... and we can still
socialize and other folks don't have to blister their "delete" finger.
Why don't we do as other lists do and keep a PARALLEL list which is made up
of only bcc address.
Inotherwords (is that a word or a shorthand outline????) What I mean to say
is, that we can choose a "social director" and all of us who wish to have
some fun with each other in addition to iris, iris, iris, will send the SD
our address with some little friendly statement about how we'd like to be
included. The SD will then maintain the list of BCC:s, which we may all use
when we have something less weighty to talk about.
The beauty of this is that no-one is deprived of anything they WANT to
read... but no-one is inflicted with those horrible birthday messages or
whatever is the problem.
I'll be happy, Tom'll be happy, we'll ALL be happy... and no-one has to leave
the list!
Soooooooo volunteers for Social Director?
