I hate to disagree with you, Dennis, but in this case I'm afraid I do.  If
you do not spray with Cygon when the irises are about 5" of new growth, here
that is early April, it will not be effective as borer control.  Even though
Cygon is a systemtic, this is true.  Clarence Mahan in no. VA.
