No, as far as I know there are no borers in this part of Texas. The real
estate prices are great but up here in the panhandle water is scarce. My
neighbors to the North have been hauling water since March.
The real problem is a lovely little ground cover known as Field Bindweed,
Possession Vine or the WEED FROM HELL! This little jewel is capable of
regrowing in 5 days. The roots have been found 60' deep and the seed is
viable for up to 10 years. It is the bane of my existence and sometimes I
wonder if I wouldn't trade a little rot and a few borers to have this demon
out of my garden.
