I can relate.  After the St. Bernard ate the standard wooden & plastic labels,
we started stapling embossed labels to the wooden frames (made of 2 X 6" lumber,
3' wide and 6' long).  That was the only complete "Fred-proof" method we found.
Now, of course, the iris gardens are fenced so we can use conventional labels.
