Sean O'Hara asked these questions in an Email to me but I decided others
might be interested in the answers so I am responding via the list. Brian
Mathew (The Iris) states that I. graminea is widespread through central
Europe from northeastern Spain to western Russia, and is also present in the
north and western Caucasus. In native habitant it grows in semi-shade.
One nursery that carries this iris (catalogue $1.00) is Miller's Manor
Gardens, 3167 E. U.S. 224, Ossian, IN 46777. Lynda Miller who owns this
nursery is a Director of the AIS, and her catalogue is one of the most
extensive for irises, daylilies and hostas. Clarence Mahan in VA
