Someone was asking how to separate diploids from tetraploids and I remember
watching Currier in the Shaefer/Saks garden showing someone that the anthers
were quite different sizes and that this was an obvious, easy character to
use (assuming on has flowers!).
On rebloomers. The gardens at Agriculture Canada's Experimental Farm in
Ottawa has display beds for bearded and sibirian irises. At the moment,
there are five reblooming - Fall Primrose with flowers and many buds just
about to open, Royal Summer, Peiviecheen (? that is what the label reads),
and two other purple ones that do not have labels. By this time, we should
normally have frost but this year we have had exceptionally good and it is
still over 60F some days and 50F at night.
