Are you absolutely sure that the Japanese don't have these black spots in
the leaves? I initially thought that the spots would be a distinguishing
feature between my Japanese and Louisiana irises but when I compared the
two, both seemed to have the black spots (mosaics) in the leaves. Maybe it's
my imagination, but my Japanese appeared to have very faint spots in the
leaves, however, it was close to dusk when I looked at them. That's when I
started looking for subtle foliage differences, like the ridge down the
middle of the Japanese iris leaves. Anyone else know for certain if JI have
these black spots?
