Bruce,
Thanks for your answer! Dorothy Fingerhood, also a member of this list,
works at Cornell and has been given several of Randolph's iris that were
still in Cornell's collections.
An excerpt from Dorothy's letter follows:
>> BARBI (Randolph, 1962) an IB, and TBs THOTMES III (Kleinsorge 1945), MARY
PICKFORD (Benson 1959), and the Randoloph irises AZTEC GOLD, 1966 ; SERENE
WHITE, r1961; MORNING SUNLIGHT, 1955; and PINK CHEEKS, 1961.
I saw all of these bloom this year, and they match up well with the
descriptions in the AIS checklists (altho some of the descriptions aren't
terribly descriptive). But to my knowledge there has been no or very little
planting of new irises since the bed was established. So I believe these are
probably the real article. <<
These iris are being grown by Dorothy and another Iris-L member, Janice
Haney.
If things don't get too hectic here at Chaos Central, I'm hoping to kick off
an oral history project for Reg. 2 (ESIS) this fall.
