Kinda bad news, Donald, but not THAT bad! Sibs in our climate (zone 8A) in
the south don't do quite as well as the do up in the colder areas. They
"suffer" from our heat & humidity. I feel they need that cold spell to really
get going. I can see the difference in height and growth in Sibs grown locally
when compared with Sibs grown 75-150 miles away (Roanoke, Blackstone,
Washington, DC, MD, Central NC) in a colder agricultural zone. Most of the Sib
foilage looks quite messy during the summer in hotter areas. They usually come
back, but they still suffer during the hot
summers. I've also noticed that MCEwen introductions don't do very well for me
- and I'm blaming that on the heat!
MUST DO - Keep the roots moist in order to get them established. One sib
to put on the CAN'T MISS/CAN'T KILL List is Caesar's Brother. That Sib will
take more neglect than any Sib should!
