I know that for some of you this will be old news but... I would like to know
the best and easiest (not necessarily the same) methold to apply them.
Normally, I do not fertilize my iris except when I plant them. At that time
I put a hefty tablespoon of Bone Meal 2" under the plant. I don't do
anything else until I dig and replant them in three years. So far, they have
done really well. I also lay out the beds I dig every year for one year to
keep the iris from draining them dry. On the layout year I let the bed fill
up with rye and then clean it out and till it before planting it one year
later. This too seems to be working.
Obviously though, I am interested in growing even better iris or I wouldn't
be asking these questions. I have heard that the alfalfa pellets are miracle
workers.
What I don't know is how to use them, when to use, and at what rate. I have
heard that some methods cause more problems than benefits but which methods
are which?
Hope you can help - Very confused in Lubbock, TX Dana Brown
