I'm afraid that as a newcomer to iris growing, I have difficulty with the
concept of beautiful flowers as the reward for neglect. However, I'm
willing to learn from you veterans and take your word for it. :) Looks like
there are many reasons for rotten TB's and I may never know the exact cause
for the few (8 out more than one hundred rhizomes) that have fallen victim
to rot thus far. I suspect that frequent evening rains followed by 90
degree Far. plus, steamy days have been one factor. Also I think a hungry
herd of snails took their toll as well- spreading rot in their path.
However, with the exception of the occasional application of Comet and
Clorox, I will endeavor to neglect my TB's as much as possible. No one ever
said tough love was easy? :)
