Sterling Innerst (Dykes Medal winner for 1996 with BEFORE THE STORM) told me
that he used to agonize over rot. He then decided that life was too short,
so he began ignoring the problem and (according to him) he stopped having the
rot problem!
I don't know if this falls under neglect... if it falls under not reinforcing
negative behavior.. or falls under denial - but this is what the man told me.
For my own part, I've discovered that rot, like irisborer, seems to be
attracted to the iris you love the most.
Of course, all of this is not help, but I found the Sterling attitude
interesting.
