Leslie,
I have two Butterfly Bushes (Buddleia davidii), two of which are
purple, one of which is white. The plants I was talking about are some
type of native perennial, identity still unknown. If I find out what they
are, I will let you know. Although I do not know the range of that plant,
I do know it was not found in the east half of Kentucky. Most likely, it
is limited to the deep (US) south.
Thinking of Butterfly Attractors, other plants that can fill this role
include but are not limited to: Crape Myrtle, Lantana, Hibiscus
rosa-sinensis, Butterfly Ginger, Penta, Mexican Petunia, Canna, and
Daylilies. I have seen some LARGE Butterflies on the Daylilies recently.
