Some (including me) think it could be much more helpful than the overall
vote.
Unfortunately, the way the counting was done makes that difficult. It
would require a total recount. There were 5 of us tabulators. Each of us
got some number of regions chosen to even out the workload fairly well.
For example, I had regions 17, 18, and 22. If allowed to, I would be
quite willing to post the top winners from my mega-region. Without a
release from AIS, I must consider my totals confidential.
The Symposium would be easier to give region-by-region counts for, since
each RVP counts his* own region. Therefore the person who combines the
subtotals could easily provide regional numbers. My understanding is
that the task of handling the Symposium is going to be split out from
the rest of the awards effort, since both are a lot of work. Perhaps,
just perhaps, the new Symposium chairman would be interested in
publicizing the regional vote.
