CULT: seeds, what do I do NOW??

From: "Sharon A. Ruck" <ruckster@televar.com>

Gracious!! I keep finding more and more I enjoy about living here instead
of the hottest of hot places.

I now have seeds from two irises that bloomed this spring. Lord only knows
what the crosses were, I don't mind not knowing. But HOW do I take care of
these little popcorn seeds now? They were fixing to fall off the plant,
the seedpods had split; I took them off and peeled it back and the seeds
fell in my hand. I have them in a paper envelope in the dark, cool of the
cabin.

Do I plant them now, or wait till spring? I am in zone 4-5 where they will
be planted. (we range from 3 to 5 on our acreage, having a river on front
end)

These silly irises never cease to amaze me. They take so much abuse and
just keep on ticking. I had never had a seed pod go to full maturity in
all my iris years so far. These have been abused severely and just keep on
"being normal".

I guess I got back on the list for just this reason, timing was perfect. I
finally had a moment to go wander thru the flower bed today, and this was
the reward. And the dahlias, that also never came to bloom in HOT Texas
summers. They are amazing here!!!

Take care all,
