Hi
I see there is no code for iris stamp collecting but I was wondering if
anyone else collects irises on stamps.
I have iris stamps from over 200 countries and have tried to group them
into some sort of classification, but this is quite difficult as some are
not easy to recognize and some are clearly mis-labelled.
Gill,
There was a series of articles titled "A Topical Selection of Iris Stamps"
by Harry Kuesel of Colorado that were published in the Bulletin of the
American Iris Society at irregular intervals in the 1980's and early '90's.
The issue numbers and page references for these articles are as follows:
No. 250 (7/83):41-57
No. 254 (7/84):47-63
No. 261 (4/86):66-72
No. 270 (7/88):66-76
No. 290 (7/93):31-42
No. 291 (10/93):79-91
Each of these articles was copiously documented with black-and-white photos
of all or nearly all the postal items mentioned therein. I don't know how
accessible back issues of the AIS Bulletin would be to you, but I imagine
that it would be well worth your effort to track them down if you can.
