Each of the last two years I have recieved one or two pods from a mature
clump of Gerald Darby. Now I have a few seedlings growing and am wondering
if anyone has ever grown seedlings from Gerald Darby. What could I expect,
being the result of a wide cross you would think that there would be large
variability in the offspring?
I was once under the assumption that it was sterile or at least a reluctant
pod parent as all the other flowers produced no open pollinated pod set.
Being planted beside other I. versicolor, pseudacorous and pseudacorous X
plants perhaps the bees transferred and made a viable pollen cross.
Maybe this is not unusual and Gerald Darby will produce offspring. If you
have any experience with this I would eagerly wait any replies.
Thanks,
