	Chris, I really don't have an answer as to why there are some 
rhizomes that just don't perform in pots.  Last year Schreiner's 
LENTEN PRAYER absolutely refused to sprout roots and just 
withered and died.  This year, I have even more potted and do not 
have a solitary one that has not grown, so it may be genetic.  
Maybe, the root hormone or stimulator might just do the trick.  I 
have never used it.

	You mentioned plastic pots 'heating up.'  Do you have your 
pots in the shade?  I have never noticed any heating up I guess 
because the potted irises are in total shade and survived 106o we 
had in mid August.
