Another alternative for being really frugal and recycling at the same
time - use old tin cans (they aren't really tin & I'm not sure if they
are called that in other parts of the world) and punch out triangular
holes in the sides at the bottom using a "churchkey" can/bottle opener.
Impoverished rural areas often have old roadside stockpiles of these
from the days before recycling centers. Clean up the outdoors and make
pots at the same time <G>. Shortcomings are that the most common size
is a soupcan which is too small in diameter for most store-bought
rhizomes and deeper than really necessary for temporary starting of
rhizomes (wastes potting soil). Dinty Moores beef stew (gack!!! - good
emergency dog food) would be about the right size.
