Ok, now I don't understand...

I live in Phoenix, Az...
We usually get up to 110 degrees.

I keep my irises inside when they come until planting time (October).  The
air conditioning is set at 80 degrees.

I don't pot them...I just keep them dry and in a dark place (under the bed
is great).

I never loose one of them, and because they are stored so air can get all
around them, not one of them rots.

So, why pot them?
