Re: Kennedia nigricans?

I had one in a pot, and after I finally saw the flower, I set it in
an out of the way spot where it got watered by the automatic drip
system, until I could figure out a place to plant it in the yard.
Well, it rooted through the pot holes into the ground and proceeded
to grow quite rapidly up through a peach tree near it, which I didn't
notice, until a couple of years later when all these clusters of
black and gold pea-like flowers appeared all throughout the peach
tree branches! It was quite a sight. I dug it out and gave it to a
friend who has more room to grow it in. This is in Pasadena,
California. One of the winters it got cold enough a few nights to
freeze water in a pet dish outside, although it didn't get much
colder than about 29 deg. F. Based on that, I think it would do quite
well in your area. I don't know how much water it requires since it
was watered by drip all year round.
