We live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (Zone 6?) and late last summer moved
into a new house.... One of our new babies was a Rock Rose. The nursery
told us it would die back in winter, then grow back in spring. It was
covered in flowers thru summer-fall and slowed down after first frost.
Our winter was extremely mild and it never did die back. Now it is growing
like a weed, problem is it is not flowering, it is putting out seed heads.
Close examination reveals some "flower buds" did in fact contain very
small flowers that only partially opened. We have pruned it drastically,
trying to simulate winter kill back, and are looking for more suggestions.
It is planted at ground level, lava rock in bed to keep weeds out, full
morning sun, shade after about 3PM.

Without checking stuff that's probably stashed away on a CD by now, I
believe I did tell someone in Texas last year that (based on comments here)
sie probably could grow a cistus there. So this new problem may be at least
partially my fault.

(but if it is, it's all your fault :-)
and btw, thanks for responses to the recent r.g. German Yucca question
