Re: Loquacity

Bill,

It seems to me that a loquat tree 12 ft (=4 m) high should be producing
fruit. My loquat tree (which is not a seedling) has been producing fruit
since I bought it 2 years ago (this is it's third year producing fruit). It
still hasn't reached 12 ft high; in fact, it's only about 7 ft high
(although I do prune it).

Did the trees produce any flowers?

Is the problem really of not producing flowers?

I think some loquat trees (including mine) need cross-pollination, although
most(?) do not need cross-pollination. This is something that isn't covered
well in books.

Help me. I planted two loquat seeds eight years ago. The trees (one in
shade, the other full sun) are about 12 ft high. Folklore says that it takes
7-9 years for them to bear. I am waiting patiently as I love the fruit and
the conserves/jam to say nothing of the distilled brandy. Should I stop
waiting?
