Re Nuptial Trees

Positively my last word on this but a bit of serendipity too good to
omit:

I happened to have to consult the diaries of the English Victorian art
historian, biographer and novelist Julia Cartwright and in a miniature
grand tour she and her family made of Italy in 1868 I find her account
of her visit to Villa Melzi, which reached a climax in a stroll among
the trees, notable among which were the 'Japanese medlars'! So the
confusion certainly isn't new or just Henry Cocker's.
