Linda:

Besides Sierra Azul in Watsonville, there is also Suncrest Nursery:

Nevin has introduced a number of Salvias like S. greggiis Dark Dancer and
Moonlight, as well as selections of California natives.

and

Northwards, try:

Carman's Nursery 408-356-0119

Ed Carman

Ed does not have many Salvias, but he does have a lot of good plants that
might be good in Texas.

University of California at Santa Cruz 831-427-0111
Arboretum 427-2998
Santa Cruz, CA 95064
Brett Hall

This is a nearby arboretum with a very nice plant collection of Australian
and South African plants.

Besides Strybing in San Francisco, go to:

University of California	510-642-6000

They have extensive gardens with lots of Salvias - I got many of my first
exotics from them If you are lucky, Martin Grantham will be visiting - he is
now at USF, I think. At Strybing, look up Don Mahoney.

Be warned, though. If you do more than two of these a day, you will not do
your visits justice. Some of my happiest moments of my life have been my
vacations to these places, especially when I gave myself time to enjoy them.

If you want to contact Betsy Clebsch, I will send info privately.
