I am not sure about the specific problem there in Greece, but I sometimes
notice a similar symptom locally here in California. My observation seems
to show this more in plants that are bedded out from 4-inch pots where the
soil is often a loose, peat-based mix. Often, snaps will reseed themselves
moderately, even in waste places of the most difficult type. These
self-seeded plants do not seem to share the wilting symptom of their
coddled garden cousins. I wonder if you plants were grow from seed sow 'in
situ' or from nursery plants. I used to plant very small seedlings from
nursery flat and these also worked better.
Snapdragons are one of my favorite winter flowers and most people locally
do not realize how drought tolerant they are if grown from site planted
seeding. These garden plants come from Mediterranean species that grow
under the typical tough conditions as many of the plants we know and grow
from this area.
