Very young plants have almost no stem (very much like some young palms).
They can make a spectacular accent in a large flower or shrub border
with the stems bearing their large beautiful red flowers apparently
issuing in a bunch straight from the ground. It is apparently possible
to keep them this way by heavy autumn pruning after flowering has
finished.

This might be the best way to go, as older plants with developed stems
can look very untidy and depressing when dormant. I would not myself
want one of these as a specimen in a front yard. I have though seen them
successsfuly planted in shrubberies on large properties where they can
blend tidily into the background when not at their best.
