Re:Instead of Forsythia


I would give a second vote to Kerria japonica,but 
you might also consider Rosa banksiae var. Lutescens,
the double yellow Banksian rose. It is a wonderfully tough
customer and easily as floriferous as Forsythia (which,as lovely as Kerria
is,you still don't get that covered with yellow foam look).
A hedge of the the yellow banks rose is as close as I've seen to a hedge of
Forsythia for pure sock-it-to 'em flower power.
