Some cultivars of tropical hibiscus are highly regarded because their
bushes are naturally well-branched and upright while other cultivars
produce long floppy branches that can rest on the ground. Some growers
may use these floppy branched cultivars in hanging baskets.
Growth inhibiting chemicals are often used (cycocel), but often the plant
will be sickly after the treatment wears off.
