Re: Annoying Maytens question

I was also expecting to read a question about what to do with rampant growth of new trees from the roots, which in my mind is the more annoying feature of using a Mayten tree in the landscape.  So much so, that I only use Maytens if they are surrounded by paving or in a lawn anymore.  They do drop a lot of small litter over the entire year, but because it is so small, I can't imagine that it would be a problem getting hung up on Impatiens.  As they drop leaves all year long in any case, there will still be a litter problem for this fellow.  I know you can't exactly give this guy the advice he really should get, such as "Get a life, and don't sweat the small stuff", but hosing off the plants regularly, or using an electric leaf blower ought to readily solve his problem, or remove the tree.

Subject: Annoying Maytens question

I donât grow this tree, so Iâm not sure about the severity of the issue, but I had a man who was completely undone by the dropping of seeds from his Maytens.  He said they were just thick on walks and in flower beds, and were extremely difficult to extract from his impatiens and other plants he had underplanted.  He wanted a chemical to spray on them to stop them from blooming.  I  didnât want to recommend anything like that to a homeowner, but I wondered if any of you had experienced similar problems or solutions to this crazy one!
