Mexican Seed shares

Friends:

Here is a message I got from Tony Avent on my other email discussion group,
Alpine-L that I thought was worthy of passing on:

Plant Nuts:

I've just talked with my friend Carl Schoenfeld, owner of Yucca Do
Nursery in Waller TX. For the first time this fall, they are selling public
seed subscriptions to their two month seed collecting expedition into Mexico
for this fall. For those that don't know Yucca Do Nursery, they have
already made over 60 collecting trips into the mountains of Mexico over the
past 15 years, finding and introducing many new species to cultivation.

For those that subscribe to the expedition ($300) per share, you will
be asked to tell them what seed that you would like for them to collect.
Carl can provide you with a list of potential plants to be found. Yucca Do
can be reached at Rt. 3 Box 104 Hempstead, TX 77445. Their phone/fax is
409 826-4580.

Both Tony and I have had the priviledge of collecting with John and Carl,
and can testify to the amazing quality of plants that remain to be
discovered and collected. This special trip calls for them to visit the
states of Nuevo Leon, Coahuila, San Luis Potosi, Guanajuato, Jalisco,
Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Zacatecas, Mexico, Michoacan, Guerrero, Colima,
and Queretaro over six weeks. They will be looking for bulbs, perennials,
woody lilies, and some shrubs and trees. There should be a wide choice of
both woodland and arid plants. Expected plant hardiness is within USDA 7 -
10. They need a minimum of 20 shareholders for the trip.
