Can someone clever on computers see if they can find a reference to this
plant? I saw it at Mark Bartholomew's nursery in California and was
fortunate enough to get seed from Ginny Hunt who also supplied the botanical
name and said it was South African.
Now the plant is flowering (a bit too big eventually to be alpine) but at
present only about 25cm and I would like some verification of the name.
It looked quite teucrium like to me, has pink flowers and pea looking
flower buds which tip upwards on the top, and pink calyx. The stems tend
to be dark. There looks to be about 5 flowers in whorls up the stem. The
flower opens flat vertically and shows off its rather prominent stamens.
Probably this description is more misleading than helpful but it might be
some clue.
Ginny says it is cold sensitive so I shall try to keep it warm through
winter which is about to arrive. Maybe this winter I will improve my
computer searching skills.
Thanks for any information.
