Oh-oh! Did I just buy a headache? I'm the woefully ignorant new
gardener and I read several messages about plants that become a total
pain because theyre so invasive and impossible to get rid of once you've
got them going. One such mention was about japanese honeysuckle being a
garden thug. I have a small gardening area surrounded by your basic
privacy fence. I want to get alot of vines going up the fences so I
have a green and flowering oasis. I just bought a Hall's Honeysuckle,
hoping to cover alot of fence with it. I haven't planted it yet--will I
be sorry?? I also bought a clytostoma callistegioides to train on a
lightweight arbor. My main growing area is on the north side of the
house with limited sun exposure, and I'm in Sunset zone 14/US 9--Napa
Valley. Any suggestions or cautions you can share concerning vining
plants? Thanks in advance.
Also, thanks to those who responded to my pandorea question! I will
be taking it out of the container and putting it into the ground in a
more protected, semi-shade location and we'll see how it goes. It is
perking up and looking better. And yes, it looked particularly sad
right after an unusually heavy hailstorm and some frosty nights.
