I also posted this to rec.gardens
I've been interested for a while in the possibility of a group like
ba.gardens where people in the San Fransisco Bay Area could discuss
gardening issues. It would supplement general groups like rec.gardens and
more specilized ones like MeditPlants. I've wanted many times to discuss
things like local nurseries and garden events, our weather, varieties of
veggies that work in this area, plant exchanges, etc. These types of
issues are of course welcome on the larger groups, but I think we in the
Bay Area could benefit from a local discussion.
Note on names: ba.* is the hierarchy where all Bay Area groups go.
*.gardens is the common groupname for all garden groups, including a bunch
of local ones.
I've spoken with the person in charge of creating new ba.* groups. He's
interested in ba.gardens and says to send him a charter. I am willing to
write one but didn't want to go ahead unless others were also interested in
the group. This discussion is taking place on ba.news.group. If you are
local and interested, please join us. If you want to help put the group
together, that's great, but if you only want to subscribe, that's okay too.
And if you object to the group, speak up!
Thanks,
Cyndi
