Fellow gardeners -
I have just been offered the opportunity to write an article
in a local newspaper's gardening insert. My aim in doing this
pro-bono is to promote the Mediterranean Garden Society as
well as Medit-Plants and our web pages. This newspaper is
very local - the East Bay hill sof the SF Bay Region, so
they'd like me to focus on that gardening situation. I have
delt with many clients in this area, so I have a few ideas
about what to touch upon in my writing. But I thought I'd ask
this forum for some ideas, especially what all of you here in
the Bay Area might be thinking about with regard to the
current late spring/low temps we're experiencing right now!
Nurseries everywhere are loosing plants due to the freezes and
I'm sure gardeners are also finding their newly planted flowers
and vegies either sulking or dying outright just after purchase!
This area was also the scene of the 'East Bay Firestorm'
which claimed much acreage and did millions of dollars in damage
a few years back. Well, you can see some of what's in my mind,
but parhaps some of you have other thoughts. The readership
will no doubt be the amatuer home gardener, so I'm curious
about opinions from the less expereinced members of this group as
well. Feel free to e-mail the group or me personally. Thanks.
I need to have something for their editor by Monday!
