I recently became addicted to Jasmines and am growing:
J. nudiflorum
J. polyanthum
J. sambac
J. nitidum
And a variety of other plants called Jasmine but in a different
genus.

Here in south central Texas all of them have done very well. My
soil is
sand and it is hot in summer, often freezing in winter. We had 9
hours
below freezing one night, getting down to 19 degrees and my Sambac's
didn't even blink.

So far I haven't had to prune any of them but then again, I want
them to
take over the area they are in. The sambac and polyanthum do root
where
they touch the ground so I will be digging up babies rather than
pruning
I would think.

I have never seen any of my jasmine's wilt even with 105 degree
days. I
water them about once a week regardless.

jasmine,
My angel wing just sat in the ground for several months not doing
anything. Apparently she was making roots then the top took off and
is
growing like a weed. She doesn't bloom as much as the Sambacs but I
wanted her for her twining habit so she could grow up some old grape
vines that are hanging down to the ground. I have not had to tie
her up
since she grabs hold on her own.

Let us know what you find out, these are on my list too. :-)

My Dictionary of Plant Names says yas-MEEN-um, from yasmin, the
Persian
name. (there is a little v over the a in yas, whatever that means)
Hope this helps,
