It is indeed a hoax.  See

There are earmarks in these messages that should trigger a search on Google
or other search engine.  The alarmist tone along with exaggerated claims is
usually a give-away.  

All I did in Google was search the terms `"Sector Zero" hoax' and I had the
URL above in a couple seconds.  Con jobs depend on overwhelming their
target's intellectual curiosity and intuition by creating a sense of
urgency, panic, or greed.
