Virus Hoax Information Sources

In addition to the excellent resource Richard posted (hi, Richard!), here
are other sites that can help you check out possible hoaxes.

I've found that in general, I hear about the legitimate viruses like SirCam
and Code Red through non-Internet sources first. If you haven't heard of a
virus through a news agency, check it out with one of these sites:

CIAC Hoaxbusters
http://HoaxBusters.ciac.org/
(the CIAC--Computer Incident Advisory Center--is part of the US Dept. of
Energy)

Don't Spread That Hoax!
http://www.nonprofit.net/hoax/default.htm
(virus hoaxes, urban legends, and chain letters)

Symantec Anti-virus Hoax Page
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/hoax.html
(specializes in virus hoaxes...Symantec makes Norton Anti-Virus and thus is
in the business of being on top of every new virus)

Urban Legends Reference Pages
http://www.snopes2.com/
(urban legends of every stripe...lots of fun to read, too!)

A special case: the Hijacked Haiku
http://www.salon.com/21st/rose/1998/02/24straight.html
(ever get the computer error haiku poems? Here's where they came from.
Really.)

Thank you, and we now return you to discussion of mediterranean plants and
gardening in mediterranean areas!
