No you most certainly are not foolish to want to try Hostas in your new
home. We successfully grow several cultivars here in Crete. Among the best
are Hosta plantaginea and or any of its hybrids, Hosta honeybells or any of
its hybrids, or Hosta minor, this is a small creeping Hosta and not at all
showy, but thrives and flowers really well here. Also doing well are Hosta
ventricosa - that also has a few hybrids. we have tried lots of different
forms and have found that, in general, the tougher leaved varieties do best
for us.

Our philosophy is if we want to grow it - we do - then it either thrives and
gives us pleasure or it dies and we don't worry about it:-)
