Q for California gardeners

Once many years ago, I stopped in either Fresno or Bakersfield and visited a nursery that had Japanese maple, magnolias and azaleas growing in the hot baking sun. I think the place was called "Henderson's experimental farm" and had been there since maybe the 1930s though it was on its third generation fo owners or later. Does anyone know whether the place is still there and whether I have the correct name?
thanks
Nan
