Greetings from Santa Cruz, California!
I highly recommend an impressive exhibit
at the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Center at
Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.
"The Changing Garden: Four Centuries of
European and American Art" traces 400
years of European and American gardens
through prints, drawings, paintings and
photograps. It highlights 100 artists and
garden designers including such notables
as John Singer Sargent and Hubert Robert.
In addition to the exhibit, there are classes,
programs, and tours of the California Native
Garden, the Community Farm and other
campus gardens. Everything is free and
reservations are not necessary.
The exhibit closes September 7th to begin
its multiple city tour.

For those of you unable to see the exhibit,
the Cantor Arts Center and the UC Press have
published a beautiful catalogue with over 200
illustrations and 6 essays including one about
converting urban spaces into public parks in the
Bay area.
Best regards,
Nancy
