Hello Gil
The old tricks with heat or a gasoline soak have never worked for me. However, a soak in 500 ppm gibberelic acid works nicely. The recommended cold period does not seem essential either — I just sowed some of the seeds in our warm greenhouse and they are germinating.
It can be difficult to get them from the tiny seedling stage and into a pot. I initially used a very coarse fast-draining mix that seemed to kill most of them.Other propagators have told me that their seedlings succumbed to damping off. This year I used a peat/perlite mix and placed the seedlings in bright shade. The response was amazing: very little damping off and fast growth.
Best wishes,

Does anyone have any tips on propagating Romneya coulteri? Mine doesn't set seed and I've had no success with bought seed, even after trying various heat treatments. Have had some limited success with root cuttings, but only limited! Any ideas appreciated!
