RE: What's "new"?

 Hi Joe,

In addition to the Lewisia mentioned elsewhere, we've picked up these plants
this year. We did take a garden tour that included Wayward Gardens that had
lots of salvias. Our favorite nurseries include Sierra Azul, the Annie's
Annual racks at local nurseries, Half Moon Bay Nursery, CNPS plant sales,
and hort society meetings. We also got interested in succulents this year.
They are very interesting plants with geometric patterns and great blooms.
We stopped at the local Cactus and Succulent Society spring sale and picked
up several dozen small to tiny plants and have built four pot gardens that
are blooming beautifully right now.

Does anyone have any tips on care and pruning of these plants?

Artemesia Powis Castle - to add more natives.
Camellia japonica Nuccio's Gem - for the north side of the house - love the
formal white bloom.
Carex comans Frosty Curls - to cover the edge of the pond liner
Carex testacea	brown sedge - ditto on the pond liner
Cistus x purpureus Orchid Rock rose - to add to our cistus collection
Convolvulus cneorum Bush Morning Glory - like the silvery leaves
Dodecatheon meadia Goliath Shooting Star - very cool bloom
Lavandula dentata - yet another one - who knows why.
Leucadendron Wilson's Wonder - From Sierra Azul, saw it at UCSC Arboretum,
great yellow bloom
Mimulus bifidus - another native
Mimulus cardinalis - ditto
Origanum Sprawling oregano - for the herb pots
Penstemon strictus - love penstemons
Salvia Shirley's Creeper - always need more salvias
Salvia Waverly	- ditto
Salvia guaranitica Costa Rica Blue - ditto
Salvia africana-lutea - ditto
Salvia clevelandii Winifred Gilman - gorgeous blue blooms
Salvia confertiflora - more salvias
Salvia corrugata - ditto
Salvia gesneraeflora Tequila - ditto
Salvia guaranitica Omaha Gold - ditto
Salvia indica - ditto
Salvia mellifera x ? Shirley's Creeper - ditto
Sempervivum Helveticum - in a succulent planter
Sempervivum arachnoideum - in the planter
Trichostemon lanatum Wooly Blue Curls - another native
Zephyranthes flavissima - to add to our other two - we've got pink, yellow
and white rain lilies now.

Cheers,
Bracey

I like general trends, too, but I was hoping for
mention of some specific plants -- one or two goodies
picked up in your nursery shopping within the last few
months.

I also love Jo's Australian Native Plants Nursery
(which is between Ventura and Ojai). GREAT place.

Joe
