Re: Isoplexus sceptrum


David - Very similar to I. sceptrum in ease of performance and required
conditions in W. Coast UK gardens. For me, at least, on the *north* west
coast, it's easier and more reliable than I. isabellina. Flowers here good
without being what I'd describe as knock-down-drag-out
stop-em-in-their-tracks gorgeous. Plants, too, tend to be, um,
'interestingly gnarled' in their wide-spreading growth habit. But the
Cumbrian coast must be about the outer limit of climatic feasibility for
isoplexis, I'd guess. I've seen all of the spp in warmer and more sheltered
(but still distinctly moist) gardens in Devon and Cornwall looking much more
obviously lush and large (and upright!) and glamorous.
