My thanks to everyone who told me the news of reproduction re my cycas
revoluta. Picture of the pregnancy attached
---------------------------------------------------
Does anyone have knowledge of the habits of the cycad?
I have a mature specimen of about 12-14 ins in dia.
and has a trunk ht. of 30 ins.
Nearly every year it 'erupts' with new greeen fronds from the crown of the
trunk but this year it is behaving quite differently.
The domelike crown has turned into a dense mass of what appear to be
a great numner immature fronds but, unlike past years, these are not
rapidly developing into 30-40 24is. tall, green fronds. The whole
head looks almost like a very large cottage-loaf shaped dome and slowly growing
[it has been doing a slow motion growth over, say, four weeks].
Anyone got any ideas what's afoot?
