| So this is interesting…. here in San Diego area, the last three or four weeks have been hot. Really hot. And humid. Temps in the 90s, even by the beach. In my garden and in two gardens I installed over the last several months, I've lost leucadendrons. Not the same leucadendrons, different species and cultivars, but almost all the leucadendrons just fizzled, including one in my garden that I've had for at least eight years. The Leucospermums are fine as are the proteas, grevilleas, and melaleucas. Why just the leucadendrons? All were drip irrigated, all in well draining soil, none fertilized with high P fertilizer (mostly unfertilized but those most recently planted do get a little fertilizer at planting). Any thoughts?
