I have recently bought two plants of Crocosmia 'Plaisir', described on
the tags as having salmon colored flowers. The one I bought in
Washington state has not opened its buds yet, but its stems are green.
The one I bought in Oregon is in full bloom, has purple stems and
calyces, and enormous flowers. I'd like to know what it is, as I am sure
it is not 'Plaisir'.
Flower 6.5 cm (2.5 in) across. Petals dark orange, then a ring of red
where the petals join, then three of the petals have pale yellow and all
six petals have red-purple marks at their bases. The backs of the petals
are dark orange with infusions, but no definite pattern, of red-purple.
It is not Emily Mackenzie.
