Tree dahlias are a bit of a passion of mine. There was a time when the
local nurseries offered dozens of different cultivars of this. To say that
they are not spectacular in flower is a bit unfortunate. What may be the
case is that they are not spectacular in flower, in my climate. I have 4
different cultivars and under our climate they are truly spectacular. The
"common" one is 18 feet tall and I would suggest has probably been in flower
since May and is still going! They are worth the effort - if you have the
climate for them. People trying to grow them in the Adelaide hills can't
even get them to flower.
