Try Bird of Paradise. Does well with no water in summer but actually likes
some water and can handle tons in winter. Came through El Nino just fine
(flowers get some mildew spots in winter and aren't good for cut flowers
then). It fits all your other requirements too. Mine is in an area that
ranges from full sun to mostly shade depending on the time of year.
