Hi friends!
My community is planning to plant some street dividers with trees/shrubs
and we could use some recommendations as to appropriate plants. The center
dividers are small (maybe 8 feet wide and 15 feet long), at street level
rather than raised, and are at four-way stop signs. We plants that:
Are attractive
Can survive in Southern California with little/no water after the first year
Trees need to grow so that the foliage starts high enough not to interfere
with visibility at the stop signs
Are fairly pest resistant
Contribute to a rural feeling
California Pepper trees (Schinus molle) is a typical tree in our area and
would be nice to use, but I'm concerned about the foliage obscuring
visibility as cars approach the stop sign. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks folks,
Nan
